Canadian rock and roll legend Tom Cochrane will open the World Junior A Hockey Challenge at the Edgeworth Centre with a concert on Nov. 1.
Cochrane, who started out with bands Chicago and Red Ryder, is known internationally with his major hits “Life is a Highway” and “Big League.” He released his latest CD No Stranger in 2006 and has been touring the world since then. Cochrane will be bringing his passionate anthems and intimate ballads to Camrose as he makes history. He will be holding the first concert for the new area, which opened last fall.
The opening ceremonies of the tournament will be held at 7 p.m. with the introduction of the players from the United States, Russia, Germany, Belarus and two teams from Canada. After the introduction of dignitaries, the concert will begin at about 8:30 p.m. Cam-FM and House of Thunder present the concert organized by Panhandle Productions.
The tournament runs from Nov. 2 to 9 at the Edgeworth Centre.
Tickets for the opening ceremonies and concert are $70 and $50 and are available at TicketMaster by going on-line at ticketmaster.ca or phoning 1-780-451-8000.
