Hockey tournament makes an impact

The World Junior Hockey Challenge will make an economic impact in the Camrose area, Nov. 1 to 9.
The hockey tournament injected $1,496,329 into the community as the initial expenditure, according to Hockey Canada. Wages and salaries with direct impact will be about $287,756 while indirect amounts to $144,933 and induced impact is slated to be $129,863.  The total amounts to $562,552 in Camrose.
The tournament will involve 14.7 jobs while it is here, 8.1 of which will be induced by hosting the event at the Encana Area.
It is estimated that the total impact of the tournament will generate $3,059,294 into the economy. About $2,180,515 of that will be in the Camrose vicinity.
