Each school in Camrose will be cheering on a team at the World Junior Hockey Challenge in Camrose, Nov. 1 to 9.
The Battle River Regional School division will be helping promote the event by showing off the colours of their adopted squad.
"Schools in Camrose will also be decorating the team dressing rooms for the championship. Each school will then receive an official signed jersey from their team," said school and minor hockey committee chair Doug MacKay.
Sparling cheers for Canada West, Sifton for Canada East, Jack Stuart supports Russia, Chester Ronning the USA, Charlie Killam (Grade 7) Germany and St. Patrick's cheer for Belarus.
Some of the classrooms will even incorporate curriculum materials to reflect the countries in the tournament. Children will be making goalie masks in art class as one of the projects. Other events include learning about the countries and even a Jeopardy game.
BRSD schools have the opportunity to receive a visit from Team Canada, view the Stanley Cup and the chance to win one of 10 sets of 25 tickets for one of the preliminary games.
